Our summer monsoons are coming to an end. Last night we had one major storm. The skies just take your breath away.
This photo was the sun saying goodnight over the weekend. It looks as though someone painted the clouds into the sky.
Social media was filled with this outpouring from the clouds. I never tire of seeing the different ranges highlighted by the storm movement. The definition of the peaks, valleys and canyons become more distinct.
The reflections of the sunset give the descending rain beauty. The desert was nourished last night. This has been a good year for moisture in our Sonoran Desert. Too much of our beautiful cacti and plants have been lost the last few years to the ongoing drought. This year the cacti have been bursting with fruit, making desert critters extra happy too. Hopefully the rains will continue through the winter with hints of another beautiful spring.
Yes, we do have seasons here in the desert. They are so subtle that it can take a few years to learn to find their rhythm. One day in the next few weeks we will awaken to a hint of coolness in the air, letting us know we have survived another summer.
